A California Appeals Court struck down a warrant using geofences to collect wide swaths of data of innocents in an attempt to identify a guilty party. The practice has grow increasingly common in law enforcement where if a crime is committed in a certain geographic location, law enforcement will seek social media or cell phone records that are traced to that area and time. This was a practice used to identify people involved in the January 6th protest.
