“49 percent of Americans opposed a ban on the sale of assault weapons while 46 percent supported one, and six percent were unsure. That marks a nine-point decline in support and a seven-point increase in opposition since Monmouth asked the same question in June 2022.”

Analyst Comment: The battle for nationwide gun legislation looks like it is pretty much done. Most of the action has shifted to two fronts: State-level gun bans and restrictions in blue states and punishing gun sellers and buyers through the ATF’s constant reinterpretation of the law. The ATF is the biggest threat to red-state gun owners now.
