The European Union (EU) still imports about 7% of its LNG directly from Russia.
Analyst Comment: The sanctions against Russia are largely performative. Even more natural gas and crude is laundered from Russia to the EU through intermediaries, most notably, India and China. Russia continues to fund its war efforts while Europe destroys the wealth of its citizens and drives out heavy industry. This was a disastrous policy move that will have long-lasting repercussions for the European economy.
